Is the “Red wine is good for your heart! ” a myth or truth?

I think, we can all agree, that when we are reading headlines in the newspapers about how drinking red wine lowers cholesterol or lowers your risk of a heart attack, we get excited.  Why?  Because we get the "stamp of approval" on doing something, we properly would have done anyways, but can feel much better about doing now.  But is there truth to this or are those just theories?  I say, look at the French style
of life; they drink plenty of wine, eat plenty of fatty cheese and get old!  Must be good for you, right?  Oh well, it is not quite that simple, but close enough to it.  Red wine as example has antioxidants called resveratrol that many believe to have heart healthy benefits.  Based on research, it is believed that resveratrol can help reduce “bad” cholesterol and polyphenols, an antioxidant found in red wine, can help protect your blood vessels.  Even white wine or for that matter, any alcohol in moderation is good for you, most just don’t have as many antioxidants as red wine does, which limits their health benefits a bit.  To sum it up, yes it appears that drinking red wine in moderation is good for your health.  Is that proven 100%?  Not really, or at least not based on the articles that I read.

Below are 2 websites that I read before and gathered some information from for today’s blog.
